Andrea Locatelli celebrates 2020 World Supersport title win in Furygan-style
23-year-old Locatelli was crowned 2020 World Supersport Champion at Catalunya this weekend after securing the Championship title – with four races to go – and celebrated ‘dans le style’ with custom-made Furygan leathers. The race suit – made especially for the occasion – was adorned with gold panels and different coloured stripes on a white background of world cycling champions, a sport that Andrea loves.
Crossing the line first at the Spanish track, Furygan-clad Locatelli took his tenth victory out of eleven and boosted his lead to an unbeatable 104 points over fellow Furygan-backed rider, Lucas Mahias. Not only securing the Championship, he also became the first Italian Supersport World Champion in history!
His Championship win was celebrated in style at Turn 10, where Locatelli changed from his Furygan race leathers into a unique pair made especially by the French motorcycle clothing specialist for his Championship win.
Furygan is proud to support racing talent and adds yet another World Supersport Champion to its roster – with Sam Lowes winning in 2013 and Lucas Mahias in 2017.
Speaking after the race, Andrea Locatelli commented: “What a fantastic day! Today’s result is the long-awaited result of the work we did every day, the alchemy with the team was perfect from the very first moment, we all wanted to reach this goal and we succeeded. I wanted to redeem the blurred victory yesterday, so I managed the race in the first phase and then imposed my pace. Now it’s time to celebrate, but I’m not satisfied. There are still two rounds left at the end, and I want to continue to have fun and win together with this great team. Winning a world title is something hard to explain, I’m over the moon!”
Race suits for Furygan-sponsored riders are completely custom to each rider and made by hand. From design to completion, the process involves up to seven people and can take up to 42 hours.
